I played a few songs with the them at On Tap a couple of weeks ago and then got to sit back and witness one of the most incredible guitar shows I have ever seen. From slow to fast and on so many genres (blues\, rock\, funk & psychedelic) and all filled with incredibly creative pieces and executed as few can do. Eric and Ray always holding steady! You never know where Nobby is going to go\, but they somehow never miss a beat and transition right along with him” … George Keener \nNobby Reed has always been about playing the guitar. Like so many others of his generation\, he was introduced to the instrument during his early years in a magical time when some of the world’s greatest electric guitarists were making their presence known. Jimi Hendrix\, Eric Clapton\, Carlos Santana and Duane Allman\, just to name a few\, all had one thing in common; they were playing the blues. They were emulating their heroes and playing tunes by Robert Johnson\, Willie Dixon\, BB King\, Muddy Waters\, John Lee Hooker and Howlin’ Wolf. \nMany youngsters picked up guitars in those days with varying degrees of effort and success\, but Nobby was different. He didn’t just pick up the guitar\, he became the guitar. The guitar became part of him\, and Nobby played the blues. He learned how to make the guitar do the talking\, how to make it sing\, how to make it cry from the depths of his soul and rejoice with the angels. You have only to watch other guitarists when they are watching him to realize you are witnessing something you just don’t see or hear every day. This man can sweep an audience away to another place with his guitar playing alone. \n

Original members and partners for 18+ years\, Harold Olmstead III and Elise Sproul\, are known for their entertaining performances\, tight harmonies\, versatility and evocative vocals. Harold plays guitar\, harmonica or fiddle and Elise plays guitar\, banjo\, dobro\, fiddle\, flute or bass. Many of their songs have a western or rural theme.\nNEW RELM’s last three albums called “JUST US”\, “THE WAY WE LIVE” and “CATCHING DREAMS” include mostly originals and a few songs of public domain. They will be releasing a new album in 2025! Several of New Relm’s songs capture the west such as Bronk Stomper (about a man who breaks horses for a living) and Narrow Line (about the devotion of a bull rider’s wife). Some send a message\, others are about love and some encompass Maine life such as Allagash (which refers to Northern Maine’s wilderness area)\, Where The Three Rivers Flow and Outlaw’s Banjo (about a Maine train robbery in the Appalachian Mountains). These albums can all be heard on streaming platforms such as Spotify\, Amazon Music\, iTunes\, Pandora\, etc.\nNEW RELM has won several first place awards through DECMA (Down East Country Music Association)\, performed with various\, very\, accomplished musicians and also played for VIP parties in Wyoming during “Longmire Days” where the Longmire actors of the Netflix TV series “Longmire” attended. They also appear on an episode of “Horse TV” where you see and hear them playing for the ranch guests at Rich’s Montana Guest Ranch in Seeley Lake\, MT.\nNEW RELM has toured for 5 summers so far in the “wild west” with hopes to perform throughout Maine and other New England states as well as broaden their tours to other parts of the United States and Canada.
